Nowboicha College was established on August 28th, 1985. At present the college has nine departments of Humanities. The college offers courses of studies leading to six semester B.A. course. The college offers major in Assamese (MIL), English, Economics, Education, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Geography and Sociology.

The College have a website and good connective e-mail system. The College has now a well equipped library with more books & journals. A new one year certificate course on travel and tourism under the scheme of career oriented programme of UGC has been introduced from last year. Construction of digital classroom and indoor stadium is on progress and within a very short period these facilities will be opened for our students.
